Review by Brian Harris
The unthinkable happens when a group of four people on their
way to the airport for a Vegas vacation are sidetracked in
the middle of nowhere by their creepy limo driver. Hot on
the bloody trail of “The Chauffeur” is a psychologically
damaged detective looking to bring justice to an unjust
world. Can the detective make sense of the evidence and
reach the group in time before it’s too late?
Woodell’s first feature-length supernatural/slasher entry is
a mixed bag indeed. Despite being shot-on-video, the film
was a solid effort from a technical standpoint. The score
and videography were effective, though not incredibly
inspired, and the acting was pretty typical of what you
might find in any low budget film with only occasional bouts
of butthole puckering dialogue. The special effects (read:
gore) was well done but, in my opinion, could have been a
bit more “over the top.” A few scenes that were just begging
for unbridled exploitation ended up feeling too…safe. When
it comes to horror, nothing says lovin’ like a little
unnecessary, unrealistic carnage!
It’s obvious to see Woodell is on the right track and I
think with another production or two under his belt and some
cheddar to blow, the man’s going to come with heat. Let’s
just hope by then he steers clear of any more shrill, whiney
actresses! |
