Review by James Garfield
Christina Von Belle (Jewel Shepard) is a rich
publishing-company heiress, whom, it is claimed in both the
narration and the opening credits, has a series of
internationally bestselling novels written about her.
Christina’s lavish European lifestyle is interrupted when
members of a lesbian separatist group (“We are the ultimate
in women’s liberation”) kidnap her to use her as a sexual
plaything. She escapes with a little help from her friends.
This early role for scream queen Jewel Shepard, according to
her autobiography, was a nightmare for her, working far away
from home while the filmmakers insisted she do nude scene
after nude scene that hadn’t appeared in the script she
read. Here’s Christina’s character arc: at the film’s
beginning, she’s dancing in a disco in an open jacket with
her breasts hanging out; at film’s end, she dances in the
same disco completely naked. Writer/producer Harry Alan
Towers is a veteran of high production-value softcore
sexploitation just like this, and Christina was one of a
series of films he produced for the Playboy Channel. Along
with the beautiful actresses, we enjoy sumptuous scenery,
including a scene where Jewel flashes the camera while
standing in front of the Eiffel Tower. |
