Dexter, everybody’s favorite serial killer, is back again for a second season and without the Ice Cream Truck Killer to muck things up in his life, he figures he should have a bit more clarity in his life. So why doesn’t he? Just when things begin to settle down in the Miami PD, dumped bodies are discovered off the coast of Miami and all signs point to a new serial killer, dubbed The Bay Harbor Butcher. Naturally, this new killer isn’t new at all…Dexter’s been at it for a very long time and he’s good at what he does, perhaps too good. Now the police and FBI may be on to him! Can Dex shake Sgt. Doakes, Special Agent Frank Lundy and his sister Debra or is this the end of his macabre career?

Dexter is, hand’s down, the best damn crime show on cable television and Dexter is the most intriguing and engaging psychopath since Hannibal Lecter. If you haven’t seen the show yet, you’re missing out on an incredibly tense series with supporting characters you can’t help but admire and a lead character you hate yourself for loving. Dexter is a complex character with flaws and aspirations, just like the rest of us, only most of his take back seat to his compulsion to live by “Harry’s Code,” a code of honor, so to speak, that dictates Dexter only kill those deserving of death. While we can admire Dexter living by this code, we still fear the monster hiding beneath his cool exterior. He is “the guy next door” times ten, which makes him even scarier.

This season sees Dexter confront some painful memories, including those of his brother The Ice Cream Truck Killer, as well as some actions that have had a negative impact on those around him. Did I mention he’s also got a new girlfriend? Indeed he does and there’s nothing more frightening than a serial killer with a psycho killer girlfriend! Don’t believe me? Get a load of Lila!

Dexter is a must-see series, it should not be missed by genre fans and fans of intelligent, mature television! Dexter is the perfect true crime drama with enough sex appeal, sickness and comedy to satisfy even the most serious crime drama aficionados.

Dexter is an amazing cable series, don’t let the sliced ‘n’ diced episodes airing on CBS turn you away from what may be one of the best damn shows to see the light of day since The Sopranos. Dexter is a fierce rollercoaster ride that’s guaranteed to make you a believer in serial killing nice guys.
