Review by Adam Tracey
Samuel North is finished school and is finally on his way
back home to see his girlfriend, Hanna. He sets up a
romantic dinner at their spot by the waterfall, but things
don’t go his way. She doesn’t show and a mysterious white
van rams his car and sends him to his death. With some help
Sam escapes Hell and has come back to find his killer and
his girl, but Hell isn’t having none of that, sending three
Reapers to terminate the runners. These demonic bounty
hunters with super speed, super strength and in one case
super sexy legs are not someone you want to meet in a dark
alley. The race is one. Can Sam find Hanna and solve the
mystery of his own death and along with his Hell escapee
friends avoid the Reapers before they send them all back to
where they came?
This is an impressive debut from Gregg Bishop. Reading the
back of the DVD I wasn’t really sure what I was going to
get. It sounded a tad corn-ballish, but it is anything but.
The story itself is simple enough and explains just enough
to keep it from taking away from the movie. The acting is
surprisingly solid all around. There are a few wince-worthy
moments as an actor butchers a poor excuse for a line of
dialogue, but overall it is solid. The effects and stunts
are above the typical low budget movie. |

Much more a
supernatural thriller than a horror movie, but still a ton
better than you could have hoped for. This movie is engaging
from start to finish. There is no time within that I found
myself wondering away or my finger itching to push the fast
forward button. The action sequences were quality and the
gore was surprisingly strong, harsh and plentiful. Oh, by
the way, did I mention that Jaimie Alexander is in this
movie? Sure, she isn’t in it much, but every little bit
helps. Definitely worth at least a rent, I consider the
bargain bin purchase well worth it. |

“Fear the
Reapers, but don’t fear this impressive action, bloodsoaked
indie!” |
